Roadmap

We’re still working on determinating dates and priorities for our roadmap. Please use the suggestions page to comment the roadmap and submit your ideas regarding Phalanger. The list of things that we’d like to work on:

Long-term goals

  • Implementing all features described in the PHP/CLR specification
    • Implementing property accessors (getters/setters)
    • Implement global constants
    • Support for CLR arrays and indexers
    • Support “+=” event syntax
    • LINQ over in-memory data
    • LINQ to expression trees
  • Improving .NET and PHP interoperability
  • Full PHP 5.2 compatibility
  • Visual Studio Integration improvements
    • The tool to allow simple Phalanger configuration
    • Support for PHP Documentation comments
    • Add custom command line options to project properties
    • Evaluation of any entered PHP expression during debugging
  • Better support for Mono
  • Testing as much PHP applications as possible with Phalanger
  • Significantly improve the Phalanger documentation

Changes since Beta 3

  • It is possible to catch .NET exception from PHP
  • “Duck Typing” interoperability (experimental)
  • Several fixes in Perl Regular Expressions library
  • HTTP headers can be changed after setting the header
  • Bug: method resolution (CodePlex: 6761)
  • Bug: calling native extensions (CodePlex 6181)
  • Bug: function declared in unknown class crash (CodePlex: 5298)
  • .. and other bug fixes found when compiling many of the supported applications
